Camp Potomac Woods

Camp Potomac Woods is a 101-acre camp located on the banks of the Potomac River in Leesburg, Virginia. Its varied terrain includes woods, marshland, valleys, riverbank and open fields. About 200 girls in Kindergarten through 12th grade (ages 5-17) attend Potomac Woods during each of the eight one-week sessions. Teen girls have an opportunity to participate in the Counselor in Training and Junior Counselor programs for a two to four-week camp experience.

The camp program ranges from general outdoor to arts and crafts and nature to more specialized programs like dance, canoeing, kayaking and horseback riding. Many campers also look forward to hiking to the large Pooh Tree by the river. Campers also have the opportunity to make crafts, swim in the pool, play games and learn about science and nature.

Living Units, each accommodating 15-24 campers, consist of a unit house or shelter, latrines, washstand, fire circle and glen shelters. Campers and staff live in glen shelters. A glen shelter is a wood structure with four sides, a wooden floor and wooden roof. They have screens and canvas curtains that can be closed in inclement weather.  Each glen shelter sleeps 4-6 campers.  Staff members stay in a separate shelter in the unit. Cots, mattresses and mosquito netting are provided for all campers and staff.

Additional facilities include a dining hall and kitchen, camp office, health center, arts and crafts building, camp garden, shower houses, staff house (for time off) and a swimming pool.

Camp Potomac Woods is located about an hour from Washington, DC. With many museums to visit and places to see, DC is a great place to spend your weekends that you'll have off. If you prefer shopping, Leesburg Corner Outlets are right down the road from camp. There are also many sites in the local area to see.
